Schnauzer means " small beard" in German. Miniature Schnauzers were bred in the late 1880's being recognized by the AKC in 1933. They have a long rectangular head with small deep eyes and highly set ears. The ears may be cropped or uncropped. Schnauzers have a flat back, highly set, erect tail, and small round feet.
They have a soft undercoat and rugged, wiry outer coat. They shed little. Schnauzers are even tempered and eager to learn. They are brave, fun loving, and make excellent companions. They are loyal, protective, and alert. Miniature Schnauzers can be wary of strangers.
They adapt well to Apartment life.
